Smallest fish discovered is at Risk of Extinction

The 7.9mm long Paedocypris progenetica lives in the acid water (pH 3) of peat swamp in tropical forests.

It is world’s smallest vertebrate, it has no skull and it is transparent ! This specie is however at high risk of extinction due to forest destruction for oil palm plantation.

Don’t worry, it’s no big deal : just another specie that will disappear for ever…
