CRC – New Coral Reef Restoration Project at Akaryn Samui – Thailand

On September 2012, a brand new coral reef ecosystem has born in front of the Akaryn Resort at Samui Island.

Ten various Reef Modules, each filled with 1 ton of rocks, where installed 50 meters from the beach shoreline. About 300 coral fragments where transplanted on these structures.

This transplantation program will give to this area already strongly impacted by anthropic pressure a second breath. After a few months, a full fledged coral reef ecosystem would be visible, so please feel free to take your snorkeling material and take a look there.
